Saturday suprise

I've been hearing all weekend we were supposed to get nothing more than snow showers all weekend. Well, late last night it was snowing quite heavily. This morning as well. My car is covered enough that it will take some time to uncover it. And still, the prediction is for less than 2". Got news for the weatherman, there's about 4" out there now. At least that's whats on my front steps! It's supposed to snow like this tomorrow as well. My plans were to go into town and drop my time sheet and do a little food shopping. I have to go to the po and bank today, they are close, and everything else can wait, except the time sheet. So, depends on the road conditions. Getting to work on Thursday was not fun, I almost turned around a few times because of the roads being so bad. Only passed one snow plow on the way to work, which is very unusual.

A new year and a new decade has begun. I was up at midnight, but didn't watch the ball drop. I was watching a couple interesting shows and by the time I went to bed it was 1 am. The first one was done by a British reporter based on polygamy. She went into a Mormon polygamist home, spent a few days with the family and asked a lot of questions of the wives. Then she went into the home of a smaller polygamist family, the man was looking for his third wife, but she wanted the view point of the man. The large family she only got the view point of one of the wives. Towards the end of her stay the first wife did sit down and talk to her very openly about her feelings about all this in the beginning. The other wife, who was willing to let her see how their household runs, did tell her their belief and why they believe in polygamist marriage. They say it's not brain washing, my own opinion is, it's very suttle.

The other show was on the life of the Geisha. Didn't really change my thoughts about that either, but what was interesting to me is the time and discomfort these girls go through. There's a certain way everything has to be done and they do it over and over until they get it right. And if they complain about any pain or discomfort they are told to just put up with it that it will eventually go away. Not for me!
